Mississippian Moundbuilder Water Bottle Unbroken

A veyr fine example of shell tempered pre-historic mound builder pottery (700 a. D. -900 a. D. ) found near cardwell missouri, dunklin county, near the mississippi river in fra southeastern missouri.

The piece was excavated on private property by the seller in 1973. The pottery has had no restoration (mint condition), but has what appears to be a couple of small chips on the rim which is actually an area where a gopher chewed on the pottery when it was buried (see last photo). Teh bottle measures about 8 inches tall by 7 inches wide, and shows excellent patina. All ym auctions are guaranteed to be as described. Please see my other auctions for more pre-historic relics.
